TOPAS Advanced Polymers' COCs Eliminate Warpage in Short- and Long-Glass-Fiber PP Components
A Reliable Option Over Costly and Time-Consuming Mold Redesign
Florence, Ky., September 17, 2010 – Cyclic olefin copolymers (COCs) from TOPAS Advanced Polymers Inc. significantly reduce warpage when blended with short- and long-glass-fiber-reinforced
PP. TOPAS® 8007F-400 resin virtually eliminates part warpage when used in ratios ranging from 5% to 30%.
The COC eliminates the need for time-consuming and costly mold changes during production particularly with small-scale runs, according to Michael Grimm, market development representative for TOPAS Advanced Polymers. With equal shrinkage in all directions, the amorphous-based TOPAS 8007F-400 plays a key role in reducing warping in demanding LGF-PP automotive applications.
The material blends easily and delivers molded parts with excellent surface quality at nearly the same processing conditions.
